The hostel is INSIDE the railway station which was very handy location wise as I arrived and left on the train.
The staff were so friendly and helpful.
My dorm was cosy and the bed comfortable. And it was quiet. I slept well. Had some awesome dorm buddies too.
The buffet breakfast was excellent.
My only negative is the air con in the room was constant, and as I was in the top bunk I was near the vent and it made my throat very dry.

My stay at Lillehammer City Hostel turned out to be far better than I expected — so good, in fact, that what was supposed to be one night became five. From the moment I checked in, Gina made the experience smooth and welcoming. She handled everything with warmth and clarity, and that first interaction set the tone for my entire stay.
Tuna continued to be incredibly helpful — always available, always kind, and always ready to assist with anything I needed. It’s rare to find staff who genuinely care about travellers, and both Gina and Tuna made the hostel feel like a comfortable base rather than just a place to sleep.
The facilities are brilliant: clean, organised, spacious, and perfect for a longer stay. And the price? You simply won’t find anything like this anywhere in Norway — especially not with this level of comfort and service. For someone heading toward Oslo to catch a flight, or just passing through Lillehammer, this hostel is an absolute gem.
Highly recommended for travellers who appreciate good people, great value, and a stay that feels effortless from start to finish.

lovely family room with en suite directly in Lillehammer railway station, just a few minutes walk to the town centre, restaurants, and facilities. Staff in the hostel were very friendly and also arranged gluten free food for my wife. Nice little touches like free coffee and tea during the stay. Also great breakfast.
