The Ship Inn Folkestone

A beautiful location on a beautiful cobbled street with adequate parking , this is permit only between 8-8 but over night you’re fine to park there. The pub was super cosy and well stocked with drinks with a good variety. The accommodation was more than adequate for an over night stay. It was myself , husband and our 12 year old daughter. The beds had clean bedding, tea, coffee and breakfast snacks. Plenty of towels and body wash. We stayed here to get the shuttle to Calais and this was 10 minutes from the pub. You’re able to leave early and post the keys in an internal box and exit by the back door. Trish and her staff couldn’t do enough for us. We arrived too late for food. But Trish called a take away for us and provided plates and cutlery and allowed us to eat in the pub rather than our room. They clearly have regulars which is always what I look for because if people keep coming back you know you’re in a good place.

The only downside and this isn’t really a criticism the bathroom was very snug and the shower temp was a little temperamental. But for an en suite bathroom it really wasn’t bad. It was clean and suited our needs for the night just fine.

The location; overlooking the harbour and a short stroll from nice shops and bars. The room was comfortable and nicely furnished. The shower was great. Never stayed in a pub before, it was fun to hear the music and people from below.

Nothing

Location on the quay. Good view

Early bin noise, and typical quay activity

Good value, excellent location.

We had one good night (Friday) and one bad night (Thursday). Thursday was pub quiz night, I can accept the noise from that as it is room above pub. The problem is the triple room is at the back, next to kitchen and extract plant equipment. There was someone cleaning in the kitchen until 2ish in the morning with a tiinny radio on, and plant equipment was a constant hum all night. I'm a heavy sleeper and it affected me.
