Casa Del Sole

Great position with a balcony to enjoy Matera at night. Well appointed apartment - rustic but it had everything we needed.

Not really anything, but be aware there are stairs to the bed.

Very helpful and efficient check-in and parking/arrival maps. Fantastic location. Very characterful.

Was very spacious but could do with a bit of cleaning and renovation. eg a Broken soap dispenser and hair dryer should be removed. (There were fully working examples of both there too) We didn't use the balcony as it was spoilt by cigarette ends and pigeon poo.

Perfect location.

Excellent location. The owner was kind and took the time to show us the best spots to see on a map. The room has a beautiful view of the Sassi.

The lady who greeted us was rude and made us feel very unwelcome. We arrived at the stated check in time, when she realised we didn’t speak Italian she turned to the people who she was already speaking with and gestured rudely at us and sounded like she was talking about us for minutes, the person she was speaking to translated a couple sentences and that she had said that check in is at 2.30pm and to wait - even though it was past that time already. The owner checked us in about 30 mins later and was apologetic, which is completely fine as being late happens. That evening I messaged the property to let them know our plans had changed and we would need to check out early in the morning, and asked if they would prefer us to leave the key in the room or reception. This was met with a fairly rude message that I should’ve messaged earlier and once again we felt we had inconvenienced them. This could simply be a misinterpretation via text, however our stay was made quite unpleasant by the interactions with rude staff. It would be unlikely that we would stay here again.
