Hotel Poveira

Despite being an old hotel it was amazingly kept. It was impeccably clean and the staff were very helpful and accommodated any requests we had. The whole experience was amazing and I would have no qualms about recommending a friend to stay at the hotel.

The hotel is a short walk to campanha train and bus station. Its lobby and the room were very cozy and clean. The bed very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Great ambience inside the hotel although nearby properties look rundown. We drove to the hotel from Lisboa and reached Oporto around 5pm Friday. Traffic was terrible and the way to the hotel was complicated with several hairpin turns. On our third try we ended up far from the hotel and wisely decided to stop at a supermarket to rest and eat. Traffic was normal by 7:30pm the way was simpler, and we finally found the hotel.

Very handy to train station. Great staff. Good sized room with comfy beds. Although an older hotel, was very comfortable. Good breakfast. Would stay again. Excellent value for money.

I had a very good one night stay at Hotel Poveira. The location is great if you need to get an early morning train as it is 3 minutes from the Porto Campana station. The downside is that the area around the hotel is not interesting. The room was big with wooden or laminate flooring, a big desk, a double bed, bedside tables on both sides of the bed with lamps, a comfortable bed, a nice duvet and a view to the inner yard, hence the room was quiet. There was a wardrobe with mirrored tables and plenty of space The bathroom had a good shower, fluffy towels (sometimes 4 star hotels don't have as nice towels as Hotel Poveira, so an extra point for that!) , a sink and a bidet. Everything was spotlessly clean. The man at the reception was very friendly and professional. He gave me a map of Porto and some directions. The hotel also has a small and cosy bar. The breakfast had all you need: Bread, croissants, cheese, ham, jams, yoghurts, cereals and even some home made cake. Everything was good quality. Sure, it was a no frills hotel, but it had all you need for a good night's sleep and a good breakfast to get you going. I would happily stay there again if I would go back to Porto.
