Hotel Best 4 Barcelona

Great location, near the beach and the metro station. Cute calm local area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived very early and we were able to leave our luggage until check in so we could explore the area without carrying everything, as well as leave it after check out. The breakfast had a good selection of food and fresh fruits. The room was a good size, nice big comfortable bed and a nice bathroom.

In my opinion the breakfast was great, but cost a bit more than other places I've stayed for the same amount of selection. Also would have been nice if there was some water in the room.

The breakfast was hit or miss - mostly due to lack of staff. They seemed understaffed. Some food - like eggs would be all gone and not replaced for twenty minutes which is a long time. Dining room very crowded, hard to move around as space was so tight.

Rooms were spacious and bathroom was a decent size with hand wash/shower gel etc provided. Reasonable storage space, free to use safe and a small fridge, good for cooling water from the supermarket. Air con also there and working. 2 lifts which although slow were good for getting to the upper floor. There was a housekeeping service every day and came back to a nicely tidy room every day. Location of the hotel is close to the beach which was a few minutes walk away. Its in a quieter part of Barcelona away from the major tourist places. There were a number of supermarkets, bars and restaurants nearby, and metro lines can whisk you to the busy centre easily enough. If traveling from the airport, make sure you plan the train route and metro lines to get to somewhere close by. Literally a small supermarket on every corner open late, and some larger ones a short walk away. Breakfast if your room didn't include it was €12, a reasonable selection of food, and buffet style, enough to fill up to fuel the day and get moneys worth.

Would have been nice to have a downstairs bar where we could meet for a drink before going out. Although this made the lobby really quiet, it also felt a bit lifeless. Restaurant is it bit too small, at busy times for breakfast it got full and people had to wait. Staff did a good job of keeping breakfast items stocked. There was some confusion on arrival, we had booked a number of rooms, some for single occupancy, but the reception staff expected with 6 twin rooms there would be 12 people, and when there were 10 of us, tried to tell us we only needed 5. Eventually we cleared it up, but could have done without the hassle after a long journey getting there. There was a kettle in the room with a selection of tea and coffee, although no liquid milk (no small UHT containers). Easily remedied by buying some skimmed from a supermarket and using the fridge but would have been easier if we didn't have to do a supermarket visit. One thing outside the control of the hotel, the tourist tax was about €9 per person per night, for October we felt this was pretty high.
