We enjoyed three wonderful days in Matera in our cave. Beautiful big suite in a location that can’t be beat. If you are coming to Matera this is where you want to be. Right on the edge of the canyon with majestic views right outside your door. It’s a short walk to everything in the Sassi. Wandering the twisting streets and stair cases using Google Maps ( often ineffectively when you are standing on top of the location you are looking for ) to find our way home from 200 meters away was endlessly thrilling. The space is large, and well equipped. There is a proper coffee machine and the provided milk juice yogurt, along with a daily drop off croissants, focaccia and bread is so nice. The bathroom, while not affording much privacy, has an enormous shower and loads of room. The location is quite close to a taxi drop off point ( €20 from the bus station) although it does involve a bit of a trek if you’re heavy packers or have mobility challenges. The only thing we could have wished for was a blanket for the bed, perhaps we simply could not find it, and it was never a big enough concern to ask.

This property far exceeded our expectations, host was great and provided a short directional video to find the property. Spotlessly clean with crisp bed linen. Breakfast delivered to door in a basket each morning was a lovely touch. I couldn’t recommend this property highly enough.

Nothing, would live here if I could.

A clean space, good shower and bed, no clogged drains and a fridge and small stove top plus espresso maker provided. Relatively easy to find within the Sassi.

Sub par breakfast for an Italian hotel, honestly one of the worst we've had and very disappointing given the reviews online. Upon entering the space, a musty smell hits you despite a humidifier constantly at work. Yes its the Sassi but would have been good to know this was an issue before booking. First thing the next morning our breakfast was delivered but so were all the cleaning buckets for us to enjoy the view of. Construction is also going on next door so beware of the noise coming from their machinery.
