Upstalsboom Heringsdorf

In principle, this is a top hotel in a perfect location direct on the Usedom coast and worth staying at, but their interpretation of the coronavirus hygiene rules made the stay unnecessarly tiresome. For example, instead of booking a breakfast time upon check-in (quick, easy, no contact with other guests...) all guests have to line up every day in the reception from 6pm to advise their preferred time for breakfast the next morning. This is to fight coronavirus, yet if the first person in the queue has coronavirus, then it will be passed on to everyone else in the hotel. The half-centimeter plexiglass covering reception is a great sound barrier, so that you can't hear what the receptionist is saying. Daily room service is cancelled and you have to ask for it to be reinstated. Mask throughout the entire complex is questionable (considering most guests don't go to most parts of the hotels, the risk is minimal). All minor things yet all done better at other hotels were we recently stayed. Reception, cleaning and maintenance staff were all great.
