Room was lovely. Perfect view of the Matterhorn!

Zermatt is very hilly. Lots of up and down hikes.

The room was spacious and had a great view of the Matterhorn. Staff was very kind and helpful. Their breakfast had a great selection of food. The hot tub was a great way to wind down after hiking.

The staff were the highlight. They were friendly and helpful, and gave us good tips on the falls. Breakfast was pretty good. The team let me use the sauna outside its set hours, and they worked to recover my glasses when I lost them. I appreciated that effort.

We paid extra for the Matterhorn-view balcony room. From our first-floor room, the view was partly spoiled by a large crane and a building with red covering at the lower right, so it was not what we paid for. We woke up with back pain throughout our stay, possibly because of the mattress. The CHF 20 taxi pickup on arrival was poorly handled. I told the hotel I only had a data plan, and they suggested WhatsApp, but no one answered my calls or messages despite several attempts. We then couldn't tell which taxi was ours. The people I asked had limited English and couldn't help, and it took about 15 minutes to find our driver. After several hours on the train, we didn't need that hassle to start our stay. My glasses were inside my checkout robe, which went into the laundry. The hotel recovered them, but the lenses were damaged. Housekeeping could check robe pockets before laundering. The lighting in our room was too dim, and we struggled a bit. The tissue box in the room was dusty, though the rest of the room looked acceptable.
