Celine Hotel - Ottoman Mansion

It is a lovely old house basically - our room was fine, bed large and very comfortable. Air con worked well and although our room windows faced the street, we were on 4th floor and it was not noisy. Breakfasts were excellent and staff were friendly and helpful.

Our bathroom was a bit smelly when we first opened door and there were unpleasant marks in the toilet but sorted by ventilation and cleaner respectively.

Spend more time across the road at the carpet shop and archeological site! Make sure you see the old silk loom down in the basement - we only went in with 5 minutes till our departure taxi and regretted missing this. They didn't even seem to be starting a hard sell (but the carpets looked beautiful too).

The owner and other staff who were at the desk were just lovely. They were warm, welcoming, friendly, helpful. Yunus is a very nice guy and truly a people person. The room was fine and the bed was comfortable. Loved the small terrace overlooking the street; it was a joy to sit outside sipping a beverage after sightseeing or shopping. Outstanding breakfast. Everything was fresh and delicious with plenty of choice. They even acquired decaffeinated coffee and brewed it especially for me. The location is very central and walking distance from anywhere in Sultanahmet.

Turkey is known for its fine textiles. Considering the quality of the Celine, the polyester sheets on the bed were out of place--pilling and tired; towels were thin and skimpy. They can easily up their game on the bed and bath linens. I also suggest they adopt what other hotels are doing: instead of individual shampoos and lotions, have fine name Turkish cosmetics in large dispensers in the shower and adjacent to the sink. Easier and environmentally friendly. Not the fault of the Celine but it is located about 1000 feet from a mosque. The call to prayer at 5 am is an alarm literally in your room. It is on a loudspeaker and there is no way to not hear it at full volume. Closing windows and door does nothing.
