The unique character of the historic building and of our apartment in particular. The fantastic view from the balconies of the Mondego River and its river banks. The attention given to us by Ana, our hostess. She was attentive and helpful prior to our stay and clear with instructions to enable trouble free remote access, which required three separate key codes. Ana doesn’t live at the property, but she was always quick to make contact as needed and to respond promptly to questions. She met us in person at breakfast time and her personality shone through immediately. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast- excellent quality and beautifully presented at the downstairs kitchen table. The bedroom, bed and bedding are fresh, clean and comfortable.

We loved everything. It is such an exceptional building that I feel reluctant to criticise anything, but if you are considering a stay, then there are a couple of things to be aware of: this is a high-maintenance property and in places, the paintwork hasn’t yet been renovated (eg balconies and doorways). This is only cosmetic and will not spoil your stay. The bathroom is beautiful, but tiny. Please, Ana, could you fit a shelf and a couple of pegs on which to hang towels🤔?

The location was amazing - right by the University and the two restaurants we had selected were 5 minutes walk. The view is incredible and the building itself is so unique - first place we have stayed with a ballroom !

No kitchen, but we knew that before booking

Lovely space in historic building with a warm and attentive host who provided breakfast and some good recommendations for things to do in the area.

The space was lovely but felt a bit "bare." The common room and patio are great spaces with minimal furnishings.
