Lovely and relaxing stay, with great food!
Wonderful traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner, all high quality ingredients, well prepared, and beautifully presented.
The onsen was lovely, and I especially appreciate the provided pajamas and sandals (with socks!) that I could wear to go to the onsen. The basic room was nice and comfortable, while the fancier room with the private tub was more luxurious, with a separate tatami seating area and a nicer rinse off area. I had to get three rooms, so I could only get one nicer room, but I highly recommend getting the nicer one if you can afford it. If you're a family with one or two younger children, the nicer room I believe can accommodate the kids with mattresses in the seating area.
The hotel is also right next to a bus stop, which made it quite convenient to get to and from despite it being further off from the "main" area. If you prefer peace and quiet, this is a great option. This hotel is also part of the Hakone Yumoto luggage service. This made departure day much less stressful for us.
Nothing!
A small suggestion to management: you may want to suction the wine bottles opened for by-the-glass pours. Not a big deal at all, though.

The property is nestled in the mountains, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Although it is situated on a street corner, the surroundings were surprisingly quiet, with very little noise or disturbance. The mountain setting added to the overall tranquility of the stay.
The onsen facilities were exceptional—spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and adequately staffed to ensure a comfortable experience. Everything was thoughtfully managed, making it the perfect place to unwind, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
My stay coincided with the weekend, when several families had checked into the property. Unfortunately, the walls and floors seemed poorly insulated, and noise from neighboring rooms, particularly from the room directly above mine, was quite noticeable. This made it difficult to enjoy a restful night’s sleep and detracted from an otherwise peaceful and relaxing experience.

I enjoyed the room and the onsen. These were lovely and well kept!
It certainly wasn’t intentional (as I think they wanted to provide excellent service) but the service wasn’t great. I arrived early as they said I could check-in early over messenger, and then i was told to wait in the lobby for 2 hours. I also wanted to eat in the restaurant on the second night, but when I went up to the restaurant they turned me away as you apparently have to pre-book 3 days in advance (this isn’t detailed anywhere…) so I had to venture out into the rain in search of somewhere.

The rooms are excellent, the spa is great. Service is ok. Yamato service was wonderful to use and I appreciate the staff's help with this.
We were visiting with a 2 yr old. There were no dinner or breakfast options available. We were told they were fully booked and had to leave the hotel for both dinner and for breakfast. It would be nice for it to be extremely clear at time or booking or prior to arrival (EG: an email reminder) that reservation is required for all meals. Make sure to book with breakfast and reserve dining in advance.
