Really great location in the centre of all the main shops and restaurants, and within easy walking distance of many of the onsen for onsen hopping. The staff were very helpful and everything was organised smoothly. Our room had a view of the river and was very near the baths, which was very convenient. The onsen themselves were very nice, we preferred the smaller outdoor onsen. The dinner and breakfast buffets had really good variety. They were quite busy at peak times, so be prepared for some chaos and waiting for food to be replenished, but the quality and taste of the food itself was good. One improvement could be to add more dessert options at dinner, as this was lacking compared to everything else.

I love the variety of Onsen we could use and I love the both. Their dinner and breakfast, both were very good.

We arrived around 4 pm and by the time we checked in and start exploring the town, most of the shops in the town were closed. Next day, we had to catch a bus to the next destination by 10 am because there are only two buses to the Aso mountain area, next one was at 3 pm. I recommend to arrive early unless you would plan to enjoy the town next day. I didn't realize the area was so pretty with local gift shops and streams but they all closes early.

Very good Japanese cuisine for breakfast and diinner, fresh and tasty. Dinner was a buffet with a lot of Japanese local food, including fish and meat. There are not a lot of places to eat around and they are closed early
