Pillowsopher Hongdae

This place was in a great location. It served my purpose well — I needed it just for one night before heading back to the airport. Location-wise, it's great for getting to and from the airport. There are also lots of cafes and restaurants around, a great park for walking and running, and some markets and shops nearby. I think the area is super safe. My room was on the 3rd floor, and I didn't hear any noise since the window faced the parking area. There was no noise from neighboring rooms either, and overall I had a really good stay. The place is definitely on the smaller side. I booked a room for two people since there were none left for one, but since I only had hand luggage and a backpack, it was perfect. I think even a smaller room would've been fine for me, but for people traveling with large suitcases, that might be an issue. I also met the lady taking care of the rooms — she helped me with the locker for my suitcase and gave me a bottle of water.

The size of the room is quite small, but as I’m a solo traveller, it’s perfect for me, can’t imagine if there’s two pax. The price is reasonable for solo traveller too.

The location is great. Near Hongik University and Hongdae, so there is lots to do and good, cheap food. Unattended check in was easy. The room was moderately large and clean, and the bed large enough. The shower was nicely appointed, and a Japanese-style shower toilet was appreciated.

However, the room was quite noisy from the traffic on the street, even with the blinds closed, and we could hear the people in the room next to us. Luckily we had earplugs so we could sleep. Minor quibbles: The countertop on the bath sink was so small there was little room for toiletries; We could not get replacements for the two coffee pods; After four or five tries we could not get the Chromecast to work, so could only get local TV; and Wifi was usually good, but in the evening it tended to be spotty. For the price it was disappointing.
