Ideal starting point if you’re doing the Kumano Kodo, only couple minutes walk from the Kii Tanabe station and seafront (amazing sunset btw!). Host is so lovely and welcoming. You have the whole room to yourself which is a luxury when a lot of the accommodation you get as a pilgrim is shared. Very comfy futon and bedding, and the room is spacious.
The bathroom is outside and the walls are very thin, but that is to be expected in such an old building with sliding door partitions.

The lady was really friendly. The japanese style bedding was comfortable. The building is pretty old but clean and well equipped. The location is pretty good. Great value with the price.
The staircase is pretty steep. If you stay on the 2nd floor(1st floor to some country), be careful getting up and down. The toilet is across the yard, so you have to walk a little bit. If you’re very sensitive to sound , you may have to reconsider about staying here cause it’s right next to the tracks, and also it’s an old building that has very thin walls and doors, so I could hear my next-door moving. I’m quite used to stay in hostels so it didn’t really bother me.
