Abbatissa Hotel Restaurant

The hotel is a set of very nice individual rooms and a huge covered terrace dining room attached to the pilgrim church of Sant Antoni, although we never saw anything happening at the church while there. The location, on the top of a ridge between Sant Joan de les Abadesses and Segúries, in the dense woodland that covers the Catalan hills here, is gorgeous, and because it's above everything, also super-quiet and restful. But we had picked it because of the food, and weren't disappointed; the menu was amazing and the quality superb, as well as the buffet breakfast being enough, and tasty enough, to set one up for a whole day just by itself. You may need to diet after staying here; but it'll be worth it. A special word also for the super-helpful desk staff member, Carol, who managed to be cheerful, polite and efficient in at least three languages while I was at the desk, and made the stay just that bit nicer; thankyou!

The only thing I think could have been better was that drinking water was supplied in a fridge on the shared landing, and although I think only two and then three of the rooms on that landing were occupied while we were there, the bottles of water still emptied very quickly and were not replaced till next mid-morning. It was hot and we needed more, especially after getting through a bottle of really good local wine together...

Ubicación y entorno, y el personal.

La situation en un lieu historique, l'altitude et paysages magnifiques. Gentillesse du personnel et disponibilité. Qualité de la cuisine. Petit déjeuner dans l'ensemble correct et copieux. Absence de climatisation dans la salle du bar où se passe le repas du soir... Pourquoi pas dans la grande salle magnifique et climatisée?

La climatisation qui ne peut pas être pilotée directement par le client depuis la chambre, bruyante et aléatoire, 25,5 la nuit et 19 le jour sans pouvoir rien modifier... Anormal de ne pouvoir régler soi-même!!. Les lits pas assez larges (pas de Queen ou King size). Pas de machine à café à disposition au petit déjeuner, pas d'œufs au plat. Les bouteilles de vin conservées verticalement ce qui fatalement provoque parfois le goût de bouchon... Cela nous est arrivé.

Don't take the dinner during the weekdays, that's pure disappointment and doesn't meet the price. After claiming it wasn't what I would expect from a dinner, they returned me the money, but who will compensate the bad experience? I was almost alone in the hotel, yet was given the room with the worst possible room. They have a place with free water for guests in the fridge, but unfortunately all bottles were empty, I managed to get a couple of drops from one of them - would be better to supply a bottle per room. There was a dead bug in my room - not sure it was properly cleaned - however the rest of the room seemed clean enough.
