Staff was very friendly, we enjoyed seeing peacocks roaming around the grounds and staying in such a historic place. The aircon inside the room was also a lifesaver!

A beautiful and historic building which feels like you are staying in a museum.
The decor, furniture and fittings are all very old and tired but personally I felt it added to the charm.
The sheets were clean and comfortable.
Id stay again and recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a time capsule experience rather than a modern clinical renovated hotel

Rooms are a little outdated but clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and plenty of it. Grounds are vast but only small portion kept tidy. Peacocks on grounds are friendly and you can buy food from reception to feed them. Ruthin town/village is quaint and amazing to walk. Absolutely loved staying in the castle. Would definitely visit again. I went for a wedding and found expedia to be cheapest prices and I had slightly better (bathroom was more modern and i had iron and hairdryer )than people who paid more.

Amazing place, great value, just needs a bit of investment in maintenance and grounds and general ambience to suit it's character.
