This is a really funky, quaint historic hotel. Great location, you can walk all over Silverton and to the shops and restaurants. My son and I stayed on our way through to our home in Northern Colorado. We were in the two bedroom room. The beds were super comfortable and we slept really well. Our main complaint was that we couldn't see in the bathroom, there was one little light by the mirror. There was another small wall light by the shower, but it had no bulb in it - so the shower was quite dark while showering!
This is a Colorado mountain town hotel. It is not luxurious by any means, but it is fun. It is in one of the most beautiful places, and does not even try to be pretentious, much like the town it sits in. I hope that never changes. There are plenty of other places to get that attitude in Colorado, just point to a map. I don't know if the Avon is open in the winter, but my son and I talked about returning then, it is my favorite time to be in Silverton. The Avon is good and definitely has the potential to be absolutely great. I will be returning!

Such a quaint motel!! Exactly as described. Bathroom showers were amazing and the king bed was very comfy!!
Would absolutely stay again !!
