It is an unmanned hotel without front desk. May not suit for all travelers. Also no lift for this hotel and not suitable for traveler with long trip carrying big luggage. No response from hotel via Expedia message box.

Our favorite place to stay when in Kakunodate!

Very close to train station -30 second walk. But also very quiet no train noise. This is a modern hotel that was a joy to stay in. I would definitely recommend and would stay again if ever in Kakunodate again.
Check in is unmanned so you need your booking number and use the check in machine.
