Walk uphill at end of day after sailing was a grind. Self imposed as the hotel offered shuttles at various times. Could not have been more helpful but you have to be prepared for very Japanese experience.
Try the restaurant in the hotel. Not well advertised but very attentive waiter.

Was totally blown away from the start, by having a bag girl carry our full packs to our room and also the manager helping us with shuttles around the area for shopping and to the train station when we checked out. Best service by far!! Amazing traditional Japanese feel to the rooms and the breakfast buffet was delicious! If you are around this area I highly recommend this ryokan...
