Our short stay 😭

This is really a Bed and Breakfast not a hotel which is not clear to me from the property listing. However, the hosts are a young couple actively renovating a beautiful historical chateau and they were extremely accommodating to make our stay welcoming and comfortable.

We'd really recommend this accommodation - its an easy drive from Dieppe and a perfect introduction to a holiday in France. The Chateau is really impressive; sensitively renovated with a contemporary design aesthetic; very comfortable bed and a luxury feel to the accommodation. The owners were friendly; informative and deservedly proud of the building, grounds and history. A big mention also to the gardens - this is its own mature arborium with absolutely stunning, majestic trees and a reason to stay in itself. It's not a hotel so no formal restaurant but bring a picnic and a bottle of wine and enjoy the tranquility and setting. Also, breakfast was tremendous, Ines prepped the best looking and best tasting breakfast we had throughout our trip (and we stayed in some really decent hotels). Credit to these two - there's a lot of old Chateaux in a poor state of repair across France and their determination to restore this property to its current impressive state is so commendable.

Having read the glowing reviews we were not prepared to arrive at a place which is very much a work in progress. Our room on the second floor, though spacious, lacked quite a few things to make it the ‘Deluxe Double Room’ we thought we had booked.Things like a second bed side lamp, racks to hang your bath towels (or anything else), space to place anything you need around a bathroom basin, which is actually located in the room (ok, but an acquired taste & again lacking a light really impractical). I also found the monstrous TV set standing in front of one window rather disturbing. The intense smell of fabric softener of the bed linen & towels didn’t add to our enjoyment & I don’t know how to use a Nespresso machine to make hot water for a cup of tea (even though I was told that it is possible).
