Rae by Tamara Kumbakonam - Formerly Lilac Kumbakonam

We really enjoyed our stay at Rae by Tamara. I had brought my 11 month old here and even she enjoyed it. As our trip was fully focused on experiencing the culture and beauty of the temple city, just arriving at the hotel gave us good vibes. We wanted to actually come back to the hotel everyday just to rest up a little, because we loved the good vibes and comfort. The sheets were clean, the bed was super comfy, the facilities were top notch. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting KK. Some notable mentions for the food - the thakkali chutney with idly (made just like home cooked food), poondu kulambu pizza (who would have thought this actually worked together), Carrot halwa (sweet but nice), curd rice with potato fry (yum!).

There are only a few things that need improvement. Ordering food via room service takes much longer than anticipated. You will need to give atleast 25 minutes for it to arrive upstairs as compared to the restaurant where food is served much faster. Same goes for ironing clothes - this needs to be timed and planned earlier, because it may delay your trip if its given last minute (I had to wait a very long time). Also, if there is an automated way to see the breakdown of charges, it would be much appreciated. Thats all :)

The food was excellent - the lunch meals were great and the breakfast was very good. Steve was very pleasant, the location is convenient, and the service was excellent throughout our stay.

Nothing comes to mind - it was a very comfortable stay.

Since I missed both breakfasts on my 2 days' of stay, I requested from Guru temple, to provide lunch freely on 11th when I left. They said it won't be ready by 10.45 when I returned from temple. They said that they can provide bread toast & coffee which will be charged. I felt that charges of Rs.295/- for 2 cups of milk I had room served on 9-6-26 is very high & did not have the toast & bread which I felt will be charged heavily. I vacated by 11 a.m. on 11-6-26.
