Good breakfast, freshly cooked.

Not a lot could be done but the stairs were awkward

Friendly staff checked us in and showed us to the Erewash room. It appeared to have been recently refurbished or else kept up nicely. She also booked us in for dinner and the chicken, ham and leek pie was delicious! Room was clean and quiet, bed was comfy, we were provided a fan. We only stayed 1 night, but there was an armoire and plenty of drawers that would be great for a longer stay. Shower was nice, with great pressure (if you know, you know) but a little slippery, so be careful. Breakfast was fantastic too; compliments to the chef!

Bedroom was extermely comfortable with excellent facilties. Accommodation is nicely located and car parking arrangements were first-class. Breakfast was really disappointing though - through the meagre menu (no cereal; only 3 cooked choices, one of which was vegetarian), the lack of any guidance on how to order, or that toast and coffee/tea were all self-made and a really offhand approach by staff...how are customers expected to know that they need to go to a hatch to the kitchen to order their choices ? Friendly or helpful inter-action with customers was non-existent.

It would be a good idea for managenent to test breakfast service and menu for themselves and put themselves in the shoes of a first-time visitor. A re-think of the menu and some staff training would probably go a long way in raising breakfasts to an acceptable standard. The difference between the quality of the bedrooms and breakfast service was astonising.
