North Sea Farm Vacation at Schmidt Farm near Dornumersiel—welcome to
in East Frisia!



At Schmidt Farm, we actively farm, raising dairy cattle and cultivating crops. The farm is completely secluded in the heart of the East Frisian marshes, just a two-minute drive from the North Sea resort of Dornumersiel on the East Frisian North Sea coast.



On our farm, we work 58 hectares of pasture and 60 hectares of cropland (for comparison: 1 hectare is slightly smaller than 1.5 soccer fields). On our fields, we grow field beans, grains, corn, rapeseed, and beets. The field beans are used as feed for our cows. The rapeseed is sold, and the rapeseed straw is used on the farm. Our main source of income is raising 70 dairy cows, which we raise from calves born on the farm.
Here, visitors can explore and get hands-on—feeding the calves and milking the cows. In the summer, our cows graze on pastures near the farm here in East Frisia.



The farm is run by our family, now in its fourth generation, and vacation guests are hosted by the second generation of the family. Our guests experience a genuine East Frisian farm here—there’s always something going on, and for us farmers, there’s always plenty of work to be done. We raise livestock and cultivate our fields, and life on the farm is just as it should be on a truly active East Frisian farm!



The three cozy vacation apartments range from 60 to 90 square meters and are ideal for stays of two to three, two to four, or two to six people plus an additional toddler.



There’s a large lawn for lounging and playing, and plenty of space overall for kids to play and run around. Here you’ll find wonderful conditions for a beautiful and very relaxing vacation in East Frisia. From our property, you can enjoy views of the open countryside, lush meadows, and fields—unobstructed views and fresh air, all within a safe yet very short distance from the tourist bustle of the Siel villages and North Sea resorts! And we’ll even let you in on the quieter spots along the North Sea.



So just let the sun warm your belly, or explore the beautiful surroundings and the vast expanse of East Frisia by bike. Our location is ideal for bike tours. Hiking and biking trails run right past the farm, taking you, for example, directly to the neighboring coastal towns—and thus, for instance, to the beach or to the old chieftain’s seat in Dornum.



It’s really just a stone’s throw to tourist attractions and spa facilities, such as the North Sea resort of Dornumersiel, the coastal resort of Neßmersiel, and the two North Sea spa towns of Esens-Bensersiel and Neuharlingersiel. Or you can enjoy your vacation and the rugged East Frisian landscape, along with the dike and the North Sea and its healthy, salt- and iodine-rich air, in absolute tranquility here with us at the “Schmidt” farm.



Our location is ideal for walks, bike rides, and all kinds of adventures exploring the unique and diverse natural landscape of East Frisia.
