À propos de cette location de vacances

Browse through the photos: the third one is a 3-minute video of the Domaine du Chat and its surroundings.

Located in the Languedoc region, in the Gard countryside, at the foot of the magnificent Cévennes National Park, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, one hour from the Mediterranean Sea and the Camargue, home to “Le Domaine du Chat” (formerly “ "Chapt," meaning "The Cat"), a beautiful country house in the countryside, on the banks of a stream, with a private pool and all the amenities. Le Domaine du Chat is very close to tourist attractions and first-class sites (castle ruins, museums, a steam train, caves, botanical gardens, rock formations, etc.). The property has been in the family since the 18th century and spans 120 hectares at the foot of the Cévennes. The house is surrounded by an olive grove, an orchard, a vegetable garden, an oak and pine forest, and a beautiful meadow. Access is via a secure gate. All shops are a 15-minute drive away.
The main level is accessible on one level. It features a living room, a dining room with a terrace, a large kitchen, two double bedrooms, a bathroom with a toilet, and a separate toilet. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms, a large open space with two seating areas, a shower, and a separate toilet. At the foot of the house, there is a bedroom with a double bed, a shower, and a toilet, as well as a wonderful private pool with a breathtaking view of the valley. The house features a barbecue and a bread oven. Hiking is possible on the Mas’s grounds and in the surrounding area. Several GR trails are nearby.
Pélardons (a type of local cheese) are available at a neighboring farm (a 5-minute walk—along the cove). The village of Monoblet and its magnificent hexagonal church are a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute drive away. The village of Saint-Hyppolyte-du-Fort is 15 minutes away: shops, restaurants, the silk museum, ...
The caretaker lives on the property in a separate residence, below the main house. She is very discreet, and you’ll hardly ever run into her… unless you need her.
Wi-Fi and good cell service.
On the way to the Cat area, you might spot, around the peaks of Ceyrac and Aguzan, a cedar grouse, a variable mustard, a Bonelli’s eagle, a rare and protected species, or even a European roller. During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to spot wagtails, charming wagtails, and redstarts as you walk along the hiking trails, the old stone buildings, or the freshwater pool beneath the sun’s golden caress.
At Domaine du Chat, you’re sure to enjoy an unforgettable vacation in the Lower Cévennes—unique moments of relaxation, wonder, and delight shared with friends, family, or friends.
Spring and summer will be filled with outdoor activities and exploring the region’s heritage and terroir. Fall will invite you to take leisurely walks along golden trails, gathering mushrooms.

We had a blissful stay with friends and family at Le Chat in September 2016. The property, with a garden and an olive grove, is beautiful and amazingly quiet. The house itself is large and comfortable and the indoor and outdoor dining areas and the pool are just fantastic. The owners are so helpful before and during the trip, with lots of tips about what to do and answers to all of your questions. They provide a number of booklets in the house's front hall, and we made good use of the one that showed local hikes. Sylvie, the on-site (lower level apartment) person who prepares the house for your stay and takes care of the laundering of all sheets and towels after your stay, is unobtrusive. She's such a nice woman, and is there when you need her, and not there when you don't. When we arrived, there was a bottle of local wine and fresh veggies for the garden on the kitchen table. The entire house was clean and well-maintained. We had also asked that Sylvie purchase some basics, and there they were, in the fridge. Our beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms modern, and the house decor is charming. It is a great house for three or four couples and also for groups. The kids' room puts all the children together in one big room that includes a bunk bed. We loved being in a part of France that is remote, with few obvious tourists, yet within an hour to 1 hour 15 minutes of historic centers, such as Arles and Avignon. The experience was truly local and we loved it, including buying goat cheese from the farm that lay just below us. We also took walks/hikes, two of which ended in small, medieval towns that were fun to wander through. The nearby town of Hippolyte is where we did our food shopping. It had a great boulangerie and two supermarkets, one of which had quite a bit of local fruits/veggies, meats, chickens, cheeses, wines. Hippolyte also has some very good dining options. My only suggestion would be to provide fans. It got cool at night, and a breeze from a fan would have been very pleasant. That's just quibble though, for this was a dream vacation.
