À propos de cette location de vacances
This historic brownstone is over 100 years old with its quaint and charming details and quirks. The apartment has an old style “railroad” layout, meaning the rooms are one after another. You will enter into the big bedroom, and walk through the other two bedrooms before arriving in the living room and kitchen. The historic wooden pocket doors separate the rooms. Yes, the doors will creak when you close them and there are no locks on each bedroom. You're in a historic home with old hardwood floors and decor, while providing modern comfort including a renovated bathroom. Please note you’ll need to walk through the bedrooms to get to the living room and bathroom.
The kitchen opens up to the backyard, where you can use our fire pit. The yard is shared with us as we can access it from our unit upstairs, though we don’t use it very often. We do have a friendly Labrador retriever who you may see once in a while :)
******** PARKING *******
Please check our guidebook on finding street parking. You can purchase an overnight parking permit (11pm-7am) at a pay station outside the town hall at 6808 Park Ave, just a block away, for $5. Or you can use a nearby garage. There’s one called Little Man Parking in Weehawken that’s a few minutes’ drive away.
We highly recommend NOT bringing a car. It's very easy to get around, both to NYC and within NJ. Multiple buses from around the corner straight to the heart of Manhattan take 20-30 minutes. Buses run 24 hours a day. It can be tough to find parking in this area. Driving to NYC involves paying a hefty toll at Lincoln Tunnel, battling terrible traffic in the tunnel and midtown Manhattan, and ultimately perform mission impossible of finding parking in the city. Leave your car at home if possible! :) There’s no subway in the state of NJ. However, do not “fear” taking the bus :) We guarantee it’s one of the most, if not the most, scenic commuter bus routes you’ll ever take, offering an extensive stretch where you can catch breathtaking unobstructed Manhattan skyline views on the way.
The buses are the easiest & quickest way to get to Manhattan from our house. They run close to 24h/day. The closest stop is right around the corner from the house (2-minute walk away). Any bus that comes this stop will take you to Port Authority/Times Square: 128, 165, 166, and 168. Port Authority is the final stop so don’t need to worry about missing it. The ride takes about 25 minutes. When you come back from Port Authority, our gate at the terminal is usually 212, until 10pm. After 10pm it'll be Gate 325.
All NJ Transit buses are air conditioned, unlike the subway where not all cars have AC.
You can buy tickets beforehand on the NJ Transit app ($4.20 each way, or $35.50 for 10 tickets that you can share - note these fares can go up every year so check NJ Transit for the most up-to-date pricing), and activate them before boarding the bus. You have an hour from activation to use the ticket. Just show the digital ticket on your phone to the driver when you board. Or you can pay cash or use contactless payment each time but it’ll cost more ($4.20 each time) than buying a 10-ticket bundle.
