Plaza Marchi Old Town - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotels was built above the substructure halls of Diocletian's palace and it borders the remains of St.Mihovil church, the oldest church in Split. Substructure halls represent one of the best-preserved antique complexes of this kind in the world, and their function has been to level the Emperor's residential chambers with the rest of the palace. The medieval church of St.Mihovil was built by the first Archbishop of Split and was managed by the Marchi family.
Plaza Marchi Old Town - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotels used to be a shelter for children, as the Marchi family ran the foundation for the orphaned and poor children. The building was later donated to the town of Split by the family and by the mid 20th century it housed Hotel Salona. Today, Plaza Marchi Old Town - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotels returns its original name as a tribute to the family that played a significant role in the history of Split and its citizens.
Plaza Marchi Old Town - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotels is a monument of the world cultural heritage, as it features the well preserved parts of the west wall and the substructure halls of Diocletian’s Palace, which is the UNESCO world heritage monument.
It's an ideal starting point for a walk and experience of the enchanting atmosphere of the city centre, or else you can just soak up the sun in one of the many open-air cafes.
The Plaza Marchi Old Town - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotels has been restored under the watchful eye of the conservators. It is located in the center of the old town of Split, 30 meters away from the sea, on the UNESCO-protected Mihovil Square. The Plaza Marchi Old Town - MAG Quaint & Elegant Boutique Hotels features 24 luxuriously equipped rooms with oak furniture, exposed stone walls and frescos of hardwood flooring. The rooms have private bathrooms with designer ceramics, LCD screens and satellite programs, rain showers, cosmetic accessories.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Super fun place to stay. It was really clean. Centally located, and quiet. We could walk to everything within the palace within a couple of minutes. I would recommend this place to other for sure.Cons: Our mini fridge didn't work, we let the front desk know and she said she might be able to have someone come look at it.If stairs are hard, you do have to walk up 1 flight before there is an elevator.Pros: roof top terrace has great view, centrally located, clean, fun to explore different floors. They give you a city map.Just a note, if you need parking make sure you get the address to the public parking garage from them prior to coming.

This property is in a fantastic location inside old-town Split. Everything is very conveniently nearby and walkable. The room was as advertised. Check in was easy and they allowed us to stash our bags for a few hours after we checked out. We really enjoyed our stay.
