À propos de cette location de vacances
—a non-smoking home. This charming Malta Valley takes its name from the waterfall that cascades down into the valley and stretches from the artists’ town of Gmünd—one of the mostlively and attractive small towns in Austria, in a northwesterly direction toward the foothills of the Ankogel Range.
As the gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Nock Mountains National Park, the town offers arts and cultural experiences in all their splendor. Numerous exhibitions, galleries, workshops, and studios are located in the well-preserved medieval town.
Water is the defining element of the Malta Valley. In recent years, three interesting themed trails centered on water have been developed. The main town in the Malta Valley (elevation 834 m). The suburb of Fischertratten is approximately 1.5 km from Malta and 3.5 km from Gmünd, from where three actual ski resorts along the national highway or state roads are easily accessible.
The hiking trails around the Malta Valley are endless. These range from gentle walks in the valley to long hikes at moderate altitudes (Nock, Malta Mountain), to high-altitude hikes in the Alps in the Hohe Tauern (Hochalmspitzen, Ankogel, Hafner Group). The valley is home to Austria’s highest dam, one of the largest dams in Europe, and Carinthia’s deepest lake, which borders the Preinsfeld Lock, at 200 m.
Lake Milstetter is within easy reach.
When it comes to sports, there is no shortage of tennis and golf courses in the area.
The Lieser-Maltatal region is easily and quickly accessible by car via the Tauern Highway (A10):
From the north, the drive from Salzburg to the Maltatal Valley takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
From the south, it’s a 45-minute drive from Villach to our region.
