Adding a beautiful downstairs living space with balcony, stunning views over the rooftops and vineyards and another comfortable bedroom for two! Welcome to Le Bijou de Capendu, a true gem in the South of France! This completely renovated home, with modern furnishings, is situated at the very heart of Capendu, a village circulade at the foot of Mount Alaric and just 15 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Cite Medievale of Carcassonne.
With magnificent views over the vineyards and conveniently located to all the tourist attractions, our home is a perfect vacation spot for 6 guests. Positioned next to 10th century ruins and belltower, the village offers all of the basic amenities, including a thriving local cafe/restaurant La Terasse, a supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy.
With a bright and comfortable living/dining area with TV and wifi, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and WC, sleeping 6 comfortably, Le Bijou has all the amenities you need for your holiday. Capendu is conveniently located 15 minutes from Carcassonne and it's airport (budget flights from the UK and other European cities) and train station (with trains to Barcelona and Paris). The international airport of Toulouse is 60 minutes drive away. The beautiful city of Narbonne and the Mediterranean is 30 minutes away, and the spectacular Cathar sites and wine region of the Languedoc Roussillon region are all within a short drive.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Canal du Midi and the Aude River are a short 2km walk away, and mountain biking and hiking trails are close by.

Great Place to stay and enjoy the windy and quiet Place. The streets to get to the house are narrow if you follow the short route in heaps… but after once all was easier :)

We had a lovely stay in this house in Capendu, enjoyed the friendly neighbours and locals - we even met the mayor!
A great location to a whole host of activities and interesting places.

We had a great time in Le Bijou! The living-room is spacious and light, with a comfy couch and a big round table. The kitchen is very well-equipped. The bedding in the master bedroom is good with a firm mattress. It's really convenient having 2 toilets, one upstairs in the bathroom and one downstairs too. The street is quiet and kids can play there safely.
We had a busy time in the area: We visited the medieval city of Lagrasse, went for walks and a mini-cruise along the Canal du Midi, took a little hike up to the 4 cathare Castles of Lastours, admired the 'Gouffre de Cabrespine', spent 4 hours in the Fontfroide Abbey and its garden, drove to Gruissan on the shore of the Mediterranean See and went on a guided tour of Carcassonne. We also had several meals in local restaurants, of course! We definitely had a great time in Capendu! Thanks, Fiona for your flat and your availability :)
