Pinkie Flamingo Welcomes You to Gulf Dunes 201…Dune Alright
King / Queen / 2 Fulls / Queen Sleeper Sofa / 3 Bathrooms
You are “Dune Alright” if you are planning a trip to this newly renovated corner unit at the iconic Gulf Dunes resort on Okaloosa Island. Recently refreshed and re-painted in cool summer colors, this all-Gulf-front complex has served as the favorite beach destination for many vacationers over the years. With 2 pools, grills, an elevator and plenty of parking, it's no wonder Pinkie Flamingo was excited to add this guest nest to her list.
As she cruised down Santa Rosa Blvd, Pinkie almost missed her destination! The new color scheme of Gulf Dunes was quite a departure from the way it had been and a decidedly nice improvement. Parking in the covered, numbered space designated for Unit #201, Pinkie was pleased to note that the open lot out front could hold lots of extra vehicles. With a unit that slept 10, it seemed likely that most guests might come in 2 cars.
Pinkie chose to walk up the steps instead of taking the elevator…those shrimp & pasta dinners were catching up with her! She easily found the corner unit and was delighted with what she found inside…new flooring, decor and fresh paint welcomed her. Being on the end gave the space a more private feel and Pinkie was drawn to the balcony. The sweeping views of the pools, white sandy beaches and the sparkling emerald waters beyond were mesmerizing. Many of her guests requested full Gulf-front and she knew this condo would be perfect for them.
Pinkie was pleased with the sleeping arrangements…King in the master, Queen in the first guest bedroom and 2 Full beds in another guest bedroom plus a sleeper sofa. The added plus of 3 full bathrooms made it “right alright”!
Close to shopping at The Pier and several local dining spots, the location could not be better. In fact, many were within walking distance! Okaloosa Island allows no building over 6 stories so beaches are less crowded.
Drive 10 minutes to Destin, voted 'Best Beach Town' by Southern Living Magazine readers! Fans of deep- sea fishing refer to Destin as simply the 'World's Luckiest Fishing Village'. Golf Digest lists Destin in its 'Top Ten Best Golf Towns in America'. Explore the Emerald Coast from this convenient location.

Balcony beach view was excellent. Several outlets don’t seem to be working. That is the only complaint and it wasn’t a big deal. We worked around it.

There was a lot of things we loved about the resort. It was a hot humid stay in Florida but our air conditioner kept up and we were always cool. The ocean view from our condo was exceptional. The location was nice too as there were a few restaurants within walking distance. We got there at 2pm and the room was not ready but the cleaning staff was so polite and rushed to clean out the fridge so we could drop off some milk and then we left them alone to finish up. There was really two King size beds instead of one king and one queen, and they were both comfortable.Here is a few things we noticed that would have made this go from a 4 star review to a five star:The double beds in the third room were uncomfortable. My family stated it was like sleeping on cardbord and they sagged to one side. There were a few light bulbs out in the bathrooms and the recess lighting in the kitchen did not turn on. The area carpet in the living space needs to go. It looked dirty and worn. The utility closet did not close, I think it just needed a new magnet on the top of the closet to keep it shut. The door was always opening. The trash on the outside of the condo on the ground needed a quick clean up.

Condo was clean and well stocked. The only negative is that half of the wall outlets did not work. Could not watch TV in the queen room.

We recently stayed at this condo, and unfortunately, it wasn’t what we were expecting—especially for the price. There were several maintenance and cleanliness issues that really took away from the experience. The sliding curtain was being held to the rail brackets with zip ties, with one end just hanging off. The carpet rug in the living room felt very dirty and either needed a deep cleaning or to be replaced entirely. The living room chairs were also visibly in need of cleaning.Safety and upkeep were also concerns. The lock on the balcony sliding door didn’t work, and instead, we were left with a wooden stick to wedge in place as a “lock,” which didn’t feel secure. In the master bathroom, the ceiling was missing its “popcorn” in two places. In the master bedroom, the doorstop had been broken off and left that way, which just added to the overall lack of quality of the condo unit. We’ve stayed at many places before, and this is the first time we’ve been disappointed in a condo rental. For the price, it definitely didn’t meet expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
