The southern tip of the lake has been designated a wildlife sanctuary, and from the nearby hide guests can observe many and varied forms of wildlife on and around the lake. The famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys can frequently be seen flying overhead during the season. Swan House is served by the X5 Penrith-Keswick-Cockermouth-Workington bus service with a bus stop outside the door, enabling guests to explore the area without using their car. There is a good choice of pubs and places to eat in the area and good shopping in the historic market towns of Keswick (3 miles) and Cockermouth (7 miles).

Lord's Seat is a fabulous three-bedroomed apartment situated on the first floor and enjoying stunning views to the front and back.
