The West Entrance is the most conveniently located of all the entrances to Yellowstone National Park. Some of the highlights accessible from the West Entrance include:

-Madison River – A beautiful introduction to Yellowstone, with opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography, fishing, and scenic drives.
-Firehole Canyon & Firehole River – Dramatic scenery, geothermal features, and beautiful stretches of river.
-Fountain Paint Pot & Lower Geyser Basin – Colorful hot springs, bubbling mud pots, and geysers.
-Grand Prismatic Spring – One of Yellowstone's most spectacular sights, known for its brilliant blue, green, yellow, and orange colors.
-Midway Geyser Basin – Located near Grand Prismatic Spring and home to several impressive geothermal features.
-Old Faithful & Upper Geyser Basin – Home to Yellowstone's most famous geyser and one of the world's largest concentrations of geysers and hot springs.
-Norris Geyser Basin – One of the park's hottest and most dynamic geothermal areas, with constantly changing features and dramatic landscapes.
-Gibbon Falls – A scenic waterfall along the road between Madison and Norris.
-Yellowstone Lake & Hayden Valley – For those with more time, continue farther into the park for expansive scenery and excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities.

Service Animal Policy
This is a pet-free property. This includes emotional support animals. Only qualifying service animals are permitted. Under federal law, service animals are dogs individually trained to perform specific tasks for people with disabilities. Pets and other animals whose sole function is to provide comfort, companionship, or emotional support do not qualify as service animals and are not permitted.

Misrepresenting a pet as a service animal negatively impacts the quality of life and independence of people who rely on legitimate service animals. Under Montana law, it is illegal to fraudulently misrepresent a pet as a service animal.
Important Information
• Air Conditioning: The home does not have central A/C. Fans and the natural mountain breeze help keep the lodge comfortable, even in July and August, nighttime temperatures can cool to around 50°F. Outside of the warmest summer months, evening temperatures are often in the 40s or below. We recommend opening the windows in the evening to enjoy the cool mountain air, then closing the windows and lowering the shades during the day to help keep the lodge naturally cool and comfortable.

Please keep in mind that West Yellowstone is a gateway community surrounded by protected wilderness. Infrastructure and development are intentionally limited in many areas to help preserve the natural environment and the character of the region.

Year-Round Outdoor Adventure

Calling all outdoor enthusiasts! Summer brings opportunities to explore Yellowstone, book guided tours, fly fish nearby rivers, hike scenic trails, mountain bike, kayak or paddleboard, and enjoy a refreshing swim.

Winter transforms the area into a snowy playground. Explore Yellowstone by snowmobile from the West Entrance, ride the scenic Two Top snowmobile trails, cross-country ski the nearby Rendezvous Ski Trails, or enjoy sledding, tubing, and snowshoeing.

Yellowstone National Park Operating Dates

The West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park operates seasonally. The summer season typically runs from the 3rd Saturday in April through November 1st. The entrance closes for the fall shoulder season and typically reopens in mid-December for the winter oversnow travel season, which runs through mid-March. After the winter oversnow season ends, the West Entrance remains closed until the summer season begins in April.
