Watersports for children in Knightstown during summer months include water trampoline, kayaking, fishing, orienteering. There are many archaeological sites in the area including Staigue Fort, Caherdaniel, Leacanabuile, Cahergeal forts. In January 2014 South West Kerry was allocated as the only dark skies area (gold status) in the Northern Hemisphere - an ideal choice for star gazers / astronomers.
