The sophisticated charm of the Göhren Baltic Sea resort, situated on a promontory right on the coast, offers the ideal setting for your dream vacation. Two golden-yellow and very clean sandy beaches, each about 6 kilometers long, along with numerous cafés, restaurants, and shopping options, as well as the villas in this picturesque little town—lovingly restored and newly built in ornate seaside resort architecture—make the Baltic Sea resort of Göhren one of the most popular vacation destinations on the sunny island of Rügen.
The town, which is entirely traffic-calmed, is the ideal starting point for your beach vacation as well as for your excursions and hikes. Right on your doorstep lies the diverse landscape of Mönchgut, which offers the perfect backdrop for extensive exploration.
Nestled within the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve, Mönchgut is considered by many to be the most beautiful part of the “Sun Island.” The vast landscape, framed by the deep-blue Baltic Sea, is crisscrossed by tranquil Bodden waters and dotted with small mountain ranges, such as the Zicker Mountains, and bizarre headlands, such as the Reddevitzer Höft. From the Baltic resort of Göhren, other highlights of Rügen—such as the chalk cliffs, Cape Arkona, the Baltic resorts of Sellin and Binz, and the island of Hiddensee—are best explored by boat. Corresponding excursion steamers dock regularly at the Göhren pier.
The pier is also home to the seaside resort’s beautiful spa park, featuring water features, a Kneipp pool, and the “Kurmuschel,” where concerts are held regularly during the summer months. The Bernstein Promenade also begins in the spa park, stretching along Göhren’s North Beach via Baabe to the Baltic Sea resort of Sellin.
Near the Bernstein Promenade is also the terminus of the “Rasender Roland,” the historic, steam-powered Rügen narrow-gauge railway.
