From Baamonde, it’s just over 100 kilometers to the Plaza del Obradoiro—the minimum distance required to earn the “Compostela”—which is why Baamonde serves as a starting point for many pilgrims. It has a train station.

Historically, Baamonde has been a crossroads. It served as a stop for travelers along the Camino Real and the road that connected A Coruña with Madrid in 1773—that is, the route of the N-VI. Today, it remains a key location due to the A-6 highway and the end of the A-8.

Visit the thousand-year-old chestnut tree located in the courtyard of the Romanesque church, the Víctor Corral House-Museum, and the river beach—“a dreamlike spot for a summer swim.” You can dine at the Galicia Restaurant or at Casa do Labrego.
