Reit im Winkl, a climatic health resort According to Wikipedia, the designation “climatic health resort” is awarded to “locities whose air and climate, according to an expert assessment, possess properties that are beneficial for recreation and health.” Reit im Winkl was designated a health resort in 1956 and has consistently met the criteria for this designation ever since through its ongoing efforts. One key factor is its high elevation, which ensures that summer heat is moderated and nights remain pleasantly cool. The town is surrounded by extensive mountain forests of the Chiemgau Alps and, in terms of its general climate, belongs to the “Bavarian Alps” climate region. The character of the weather is decisively determined by the local conditions—that is, by the influence of the mountain ranges and valley cuts on weather patterns. In addition to the natural conditions that ensure clean air, we actively work to preserve the fresh mountain air by utilizing natural heating and offering extensive bus service.
