The apartment was lovely. It was clean. The beds were comfy. It was very handy and central.

Early deliveries to the distillery next door but I am an early bird anyway.

The location of the property was superb, literally within five or six minutes of the main attractions and just two or three minutes from the main street — maybe not even three minutes, probably closer to two. The property itself was very good. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the facilities provided within the rooms made for a comfortable stay in a place like Oban.

the sound insulation is extremely poor. It genuinely feels as though your upstairs, downstairs, and side neighbours are inside your own apartment. The walls and floors seem to be very thin, so when people are walking upstairs, it literally sounds as though they are walking through your apartment. Considering that guests have to check out at 10 a.m., and that Oban is a place where people may want to get up early for activities, the noise can become quite unbearable from around 8 a.m. onwards. You can hear people moving around and even hear doors opening and closing outside. The lack of sound insulation can really affect the quality of your stay. The cleanliness on arrival could also have been better. There was rubbish underneath the couches, which made me question whether the carpet had been properly hoovered. There was also a note in the property booklet asking guests to leave the dishes clean and tidy. I think there should be some sort of check to make sure the dishes are actually clean between guests. For example, when I went to use the pasta strainer, it still had dried pasta stuck to it, which I couldn’t remove, so I wasn’t able to use it. I would probably stay here again, but I would make my utmost effort to get one of the top-floor flats if possible, mainly to avoid my biggest concern, which was the noise between the apartments. The area itself can also be extremely noisy, even though it seems quite quiet when you first arrive. It can get really loud at night because there are one or two pubs nearby, and there are also stairs right next to the apartment that lead up to the tower, so there can be quite a lot of noise from people using them.
