Avis

1 / 10

If you value transparent pricing, professionalism and feeling safe, avoid this property.

The villa itself is quite new and well-kept, and the location – although remote – is a short drive from Göynük and very quiet.

We booked and pre-paid this villa in full on Booking.com, only to be hit with unexpected extra charges once we arrived. The owner demanded an additional cleaning fee that was never listed on the site and began harassing us for immediate payment even though we explained we don’t carry cash or have local bank accounts for instant transfers. We made the payment after booking.com confirmed to reimburse us. The booking was for the entire villa and the policies said nothing about extra guests, yet when my brother-in-law joined us the owner insisted we pay 20% more. He refused to charge the amount to a credit card and pressured us to pay him directly. We paid this amount via overdraft just to stop him from chasing us. What made it truly unpleasant was the owner’s intimidating behaviour. During a discussion about these issues he even referred to “spending time in prison” – completely unprompted – which we could only interpret as an attempt to scare us. This was unacceptable and made us feel unsafe in what should have been a relaxing holiday. Another thing that bothered us was, the owner showed up every morning in our backyard, watering the lawn or maintaining the pool, completely unannounced, which we considered a breach of privacy. There should be either an agreed fixed time for this or a communication beforehand.
