Corto Maltese Boutique

Everything, the hotel is cozy, chic and very clean.

Nothing.

Room was very nice; kept clean and well-serviced. Staff helpful and very friendly. 10-15 min walk to nearest metro station. Not too far from a lot of the attractions (25 min walk).

Location is a bit iffy. To be honest, I wonder why it is where it is! It's in a rundown bit of Athens (Metaxourghio). A deprived area and the roads/pavements are in bad shape.

Service was good, most of the time one of the owners were around

The property feels more like a guesthouse than a proper hotel, with clean rooms and a very small reception. The location was disappointing. The street felt run-down, with many closed shops and repair businesses, and there were people experiencing homelessness sleeping under a nearby bridge, less than a block away. I felt uncomfortable walking around the area and preferred to use Uber, even for relatively short journeys. What made the experience particularly frustrating was that Uber drivers repeatedly struggled to find the property (Uber directions are apparently not clear). Despite booking several rides and waiting for drivers, I was never informed that the location was difficult to identify by Uber drivers even when well known by the personnel at the hotel. The lack of proactive communication about such a basic but important practical issue significantly affected my stay. I would have appreciated an honest description of the accommodation and its surroundings, together with clear directions and guidance on arranging transport. Overall, the experience fell short of what I expected from a hotel.
