The MEGAWATTHAUS stands on a historic site. In the years from 1915, what is now the most modern and largest lignite-fired power station in the world with an output of up to 470 MEGAWATT was built there. The Sachsenburgsee, a fishing lake, lies on the eastern edge of the district. You can hire rafts at Lake Gröbern (5km) and there is a wakeboard facility at the Goitzsche (15km).
