My stay had both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the location is very convenient. The metro station is nearby, and Lisbon’s main shopping street is also within easy walking distance. The accommodation is reasonably priced, especially considering the location. I also really appreciated the toiletries provided. The shower gel, shampoo and soap were actually good quality and worked well. This may sound like a small detail, but I have stayed in five-star hotels where the toiletries were much worse. The bed linen and towels were also very clean, bright white and smelled fresh, which was very pleasant.

However, there were several significant disadvantages. The biggest problem for me was the extremely poor soundproofing. You can hear almost everything happening around you: people walking, taking showers, talking, closing doors, moving things, and generally making noise. Unfortunately, this was not just occasional noise. Every night there was something that woke me up. One night, a garbage truck came and spent a long time emptying the bins, and it was so loud that it sounded as if it were right outside my room. Another night, someone was repeatedly banging very loudly on a door at around 4 a.m. It went on for a long time, and I could even hear other guests complaining about it. On another night, there was constant noise from people moving around with suitcases and leaving the accommodation. I woke up several times every night during my stay. Another issue was the view from the window/balcony. The actual view was quite unattractive, overlooking neighbouring balconies covered with various old plastic sheets and fabrics. This view is not shown in the booking photos, so it was an unpleasant surprise. The photos give a different impression of the surroundings, and I did not expect to have this particular view. There is also only a blind on the window, so there is no real way to have natural daylight coming into the room while maintaining privacy. If the blind is open, people on the neighbouring balconies can see directly into the room, which makes it feel like you are on display. As a result, I had to keep the blind closed most of the time. Another inconvenience was the lack of disposable slippers. This was not mentioned anywhere beforehand. If I had known, I would have brought my own. Walking around in socks was uncomfortable because they quickly became dirty. There was also an issue with the kitchen sink: the water drained very slowly and tended to remain in the sink.
