Ipoh Town by Serenity

Helpful, efficient lady helping us via whatsapp during check-in. She sent another lady named Ah Yen to guide us. Note that this is not a hotel. It is an airbnb setup of 5 or 6 rooms, (not sure how many exactly) located in two properties, very close to each other. Ah Yen is super kind and very responsive to your needs. They would check if you needed anything every day and fulfil your requests.

We stayed in the house with the pink painted front, note that there are steps going to your room. I was with my 82 year old sister so we really had to go slow. They also want you to take your shoes off before going up to the rooms. I didnt feel it was safe to walk on those smooth, slippery steps with bare feet. On one of the days, isolated incident, I asked the indian housekeeper for some more water and she did not want to give it to us. She told us to refill the water at the dispenser instead. There were cases of bottled water lying around everywhere! This was not a problem before or after. Note that it is a wet bathroom, ie shower area is open, not separated by curtain or raised enclosure so your bathroom gets wet after a shower. Not a problem for us. Also the seating area has 4 chairs on the floor and a low table. It was hard for my sister to use it, just take note if you have elderly persons travelling with you. Would have preferred a normal table and chairs. But this was indicated from photos before booking so my bad for not thinking this through. Overall, good stay, good hospitality, great location.

It’s clean. Comfy bed.

The steep stairs, a long climb to the top (phew!). Must leave shoes at the bottom of the stairs, and if you don’t feel safe about your shoes being there the next day, then carry them up to the room - an inconvenience.
