The studio was exceptional, the equipment looked new and modern and it was well decorated, the bed was very comfortable and it was an excellent shower. I was travelling alone and birdwatching. The grounds of the property are large with stone pine woodland and eucalyptus, lots of birding potential and it is right on the edge of the Ria Formosa saltmarsh where many species could be seen, including flamingos, spoonbills, storks and various waders and egrets. An osprey flew over once and a couple of booted eagles. Egrets roosted in the trees in the grounds and there were flocks of Iberian (azure-winged) magpies, a couple of hoopoes and a tawny owl hooted on a few occasions. A birders paradise! Several bats flew around at dusk. It really felt like I was in the middle of a nature reserve. Also the property is only a 5 minute drive to other top birding places on the Ria Formosa and less than 10 minutes to Praia de Faro, the best beach in the area in my opinion. It was a 15 minute drive into the centre of Faro and presumably public transport is possible to the city if you don't have a car.

There were a couple of small issues. The dining table is too high! I found it impossible to sit at it and eat in comfort and it was unusable for other things, e.g. I couldn't sit at it and use my laptop. It needs lowering by at least 10cm. Fortunately it was hot and sunny while I was at the property so I was able to sit at the table outside to eat. Also there are only two small glasses in the property, a couple of larger glasses would have been nice and maybe a couple of wine glasses if a couple stayed. Finally the airport is in very close proximity. I can honestly say that it didn't bother me in the least, in fact I got used to it and in the end hardly noticed it, but it might bother people who intend to spend a lot of time around the property during the day. I was usually gone by 7am and didn't get back until 6pm most days. I don't think that planes are allowed to fly overnight, between about 10pm - 6am.

We had a wonderful stay at Sonia’s place. Sonia is an exceptional host—kind, welcoming, and always available when needed while respecting our privacy. The property is beautiful, surrounded by peace and nature, making it the perfect place to relax and disconnect from everyday life.
