Zyra Hotel St Julians - Adults only

It was clean and in a good location, with very large rooms. It has a kettle and a coffee machine and the self-check-in was convenient

The front-of-house staff is very rude and dismissive. The hotel breakfast was dirty and was not always stocked. Everything was already out. When I was checking out, I was granted late checkout and I was locked out of my room for about 20 minutes because my code was not active until 11 am. There was no one at the front to help me and it took a while for me to get in contact with someone that can give me access to my room again. Additionally there were stains on the white sheets. It looked clean but it's never nice to see stains

The hotel it’s very new, everything works perfectly. The shower is amazing.

The breakfast it’s a little choices, could be a little bit better.

We recently returned from a 10-night stay at Zyra Hotel in St Julian’s, Malta, and while there were some positives, unfortunately there were several aspects that let the hotel down. The positives: The rooms were clean, and the hotel is conveniently located for restaurants, bars and nightlife. If you’re visiting Malta to enjoy the party scene, the location is ideal.

The negatives: We booked a Deluxe Double Room with Sea View, but our room (801) predominantly overlooked a rather unattractive neighbouring building, with only a limited view of the sea to one side. This was particularly disappointing as the hotel advertises separate categories for Sea View and Side Sea View rooms. We raised our concerns with the hotel, but ultimately the view was not what we had expected when booking. Breakfast was particularly disappointing. We found both the quality and selection underwhelming. To make matters worse, when breakfast items ran out, they were not replenished promptly. On occasions, we actually had to knock on the kitchen door to ask staff to bring more food out. Guests really shouldn’t have to do this, and it gave the impression that the breakfast service wasn’t being properly managed. We eventually preferred to eat elsewhere. Although the rooms were clean, soundproofing was a real issue. Guests returning late at night could be heard shouting, and the noise travelled into our room. Unfortunately, this meant that getting a peaceful night’s sleep wasn’t always possible. There was also an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom drains, which lingered in the bathroom and made the experience less comfortable. My overall opinion: Zyra is perfectly suited to those visiting St Julian’s for the nightlife, particularly for a short stay of two or three nights. However, having stayed for 10 nights, I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer, relaxing holiday if peace and quiet are important to you. It’s a shame because the hotel has potential, but improvements to soundproofing, bathroom drainage, breakfast quality, breakfast service and transparency around room views would make a significant difference. Would I stay again? Possibly for a short weekend focused on nightlife, but certainly not for another extended holiday.
