Hill Garden Stay Cameron Highlands

The best thing about this little guesthouse was the huge friendly smile of Mohammed Islam who had multiple roles there- reception, cleaner, gardener & more. Didn't matter what he was doing, he always stopped & assisted us with whatever we wanted. The hotel is set on a hill, a 10 minute walk from town- beware the last bit is steep! The room was large, with fresh towels & water every day. There was help yourself tea, coffee toast & jam under a lovely verandah. They are able to organise tours for you too. Nice little hotel.

Unfortunately the bathroom pulls our score down - it was small with the shower being close to the toilet, and wetting the whole bathroom floor. Very annoying. Even though the bathroom is small, a shower curtain would work to at least keep the toilet dry.

The rooms are simple but spacious enough and very clean. As is often the case in Malaysia, the bathroom does not have a separate shower enclosure. However, the water is warm and the water pressure is good. Fresh towels and two complimentary bottles of water were provided every day. Coffee, tea and toast with jam (strawberry jam, of course!) were available on the terrace throughout the day. We were able to rent a scooter for our excursions without any unnecessary paperwork. Trips to the Mossy Forest, tea plantations and strawberry farms can also be booked through the hotel. Restaurants and food courts are all within easy walking distance. The staff are friendly, attentive and always willing to help.

The internet connection was slow and occasionally unavailable.
