The family mansion directly overlooking the inland passages and distant islands of Georgia Strait is just a perfectly-framed, constantly-changing tableau. The rose and vegetable garden is just a delight to wander and overlook, and we were blessed with a bunny (investigating the melon beds) and a racoon mother and kit, raiding the plum tree, as well as the proud calls of one of the two chickens, plus a constant parade of birds in flight. Passing (and fishing) small boats as well as distant lit-up ferries and lighthouse and bouy lights complete the nautical theme, augmented by occasional light planes. The quarters are luxuriously appointed and the expansive veranda, complete with comfy lounge chairs, allows for utterly relaxed enjoyment of the scenes. The family are most gracious hosts, happily willing to provide help as requested.

Although not clear to us when we booked, only a pair couple, allowed use of the entire guest floor, the suite can accomodate a family in three bedrooms, sharing halls, kitchenette, great room and a bathroom, which would be uncomfortable to share with strangers, while entirely acceptable with close friends and family. We were fortunate in not having to share, as the hosts allowed us exclusive use. There is a not-visible railroad track well down the steep shoreline bank, but passing trains make noticeable but minimal noise, not disturbing.
