Lux Hotel LIC

Nice new place!

Everything was new. Bathroom was clean (100% will NOT be getting any bugs or cockroaches any time soon!) Staff are polite and helpful (though often overwhelmed), view from window was quite good), is reasonably close to a couple of subway options, and the price was actually good. The bed was super big and comfy, and the room was was actually quite well laid out.

Though they’re really trying, it feels like they’re finding their feet as a hotel owner. The shower had no plastic guard at the door’s base so all the water flowed out into the room. My room had never been used so gushed dark brown water on first use (cleared up soon enough though), dust and paint smudges everywhere and cables hanging from ceilings, no hair dryer or kettle or microwave in the rooms (I expect they’ll put those in later, as it’s only been open for 14 days!), the wider area does feel slightly sketchy, it’s fine before 10pm but feels slightly more on edge after then and there’s definitely a mix of car mechanics, hood types, and then city types all navigating from the subways to the various hotels around, the sound travels quite easily from the hotel room doors also.
