Pen Y Lan began life in the 1600s as a small estate cottage, probably belonging to Chirk castle and has evolved over the years into a spacious house with lots of original features from the period still visable in the main living room.

The five bedrooms have been arranged to suit a variety of guests. A king-size bedroom and two comfortable double rooms provide restful spaces for couples, while the twin bedroom is ideal for children, teenagers or friends. The fifth bedroom features bunk beds, adding another flexible sleeping option for younger visitors. With ten guests accommodated across proper beds, everyone can enjoy their own space at the end of each day.

The Old Workshop is also available to let separately for an additional two guests.

Pen Y Lan is particularly well suited to multi-generational family holidays, giving grandparents, parents and children the opportunity to stay together under one roof. The historic town of Chirk is nearby and provides a useful selection of shops, cafés, pubs and everyday amenities. Its best-known attraction is Chirk Castle, which is within walking distance of the property, a magnificent National Trust property surrounded by gardens, woodland and a wider country estate. Visitors can explore its impressive rooms, discover centuries of history or enjoy scenic walks through the grounds.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is also within easy reach. Towering above the River Dee, this remarkable feat of engineering can be crossed on foot or experienced from the water during a canal boat trip. Nearby Llangollen is a lively riverside town with independent shops, traditional pubs and attractive walks along the canal and River Dee.

Walkers can discover sections of Offa’s Dyke Path, explore the peaceful Ceiriog Valley or follow trails through the surrounding woodland and countryside. Chirk Aqueduct, visible from the property, and the historic canal tunnel provide another enjoyable local walk, while the market towns of Oswestry and Wrexham offer additional shopping, restaurants and attractions.

Farther afield, guests can visit the historic city of Chester, explore the dramatic landscapes of Eryri National Park or enjoy family days out at attractions across North Wales and Shropshire.
