Excursions in the Region From Wangen, you can easily explore numerous interesting destinations: Nebra – A special highlight: the Nebra Ark Just a few minutes away is the Nebra Ark, the visitor center dedicated to the famous Nebra Sky Disk. From Wangen, the path leads to the visitor center and on to Mittelberg, where the Sky Disk was discovered. The visitor center features, among other things, an exhibition and a planetarium. Memleben—with its historic monastery and imperial palace, as well as other attractions in the Unstrut Valley. Freyburg (Unstrut)—the well-known wine-growing town with vineyards, Neuenburg Castle, and the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellar. Naumburg—a historic cathedral city featuring the famous Naumburg Cathedral, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Saale-Unstrut Wine Route—ideal for wine lovers, connoisseurs, and anyone who wants to get to know the regional winemakers and idyllic wine villages. Traveling Without a Car Wangen is also easily accessible by train. The Wangen (Unstrut) station is located along the route that follows the Unstrut River and offers connections toward Nebra and Naumburg. For cyclists, the combination of train travel and the Unstrut Bike Trail is particularly convenient.
