Hôtel de Bouilhac

What I liked * A wonderful location in a charming Dordogne town, within easy walking distance of a boulangerie and lovely riverside restaurants. * Exceptionally kind, welcoming staff. * Parking right outside, although restaurant guests use it too. Worth asking whether a space can be reserved. * Luggage access is reasonably easy, with just a few steps and help available if needed. * A sophisticated hotel restaurant, with more casual dining options a short walk away.

What I didn’t like * Very poor soundproofing. I could hear the family next door and, later, another guest’s morning video calls clearly enough to follow the conversation. * The decorative light fitting directly above my bed was visibly dirty and dusty. The beautiful old furniture gives the hotel character, but elaborate lighting fixtures need much more thorough cleaning. Parts of the property felt neglected. * A disappointing minibar, with little choice and no interesting local products or good wines. * Reception closes at 8 p.m., so later arrivals need to be arranged in advance.

This property is a historic building and it was beautiful . The staff were lovely. Our room was huge and we had a big bath with rain shower above it - amazing !
