We loved the historic inn and were absolutely thrilled to receive an upgrade to a suite in the house on the corner of Elm and Maple Street. Stockbridge was the last two night stay on our trip around New England and this was such a treat to receive, we absolutely loved our suite and especially the wooden deck and stairs down to the leaf filled yard below.
Absolutely nothing at all.

Historic old-world feel, comfortable bed, spacious room, outdoor pool and hot tub. Jazz at the historic Lion’s Den. Good is very, very good.
Hot tub was shut down on our last evening. Hot water was not available in our room also - maintenance request not responded to. Lots of noisy renovations during the day

Lovely old building with interesting period furniture and pictures. Potential for a nice cozy atmosphere but spoilt in some ways (see negative comments below).
Seven steps leading up to front porch from street level and no one to help carry suitcases (we are in our seventies). Tried to reserve a table for dinner in the morning (via text) but received no response - when we arrived we were offered a 8 pm slot which was too late having been on the road all day. Returned to hotel around 8pm after dinner elsewhere and went to bar to get a drink and stood there for five minutes being ignored while the bar tender continued a conversation with customers sitting at the bar. Room was quaint but very crowded with furniture leaving insufficient room to organise our suitcases. Went to reception at 8am to checkout to find a queue of people and no one on reception, just a note saying “helping other staff” so we have to conclude that the hotel is understaffed. At $360 per night with no breakfast we considered it overpriced.
